ConnectedWorld.TV Awards 2011: Nacamar's Hbb TV Service nominated as best service delivery platform for networked television

For the first time, as part of the internationally leading TV trade fair IBC, an award has been created specifically addressing industry innovations. The nacamar HbbTV service onteve has been short-listed. The user interface for the new social TV platform was designed by UX experts from coeno.

Munich, Düsseldorf, 10. August 2011 – The New Media full-service provider nacamar and its agency coeno are delighted that onteve has received a joint nomination in the category "Service Delivery Platform". This category was used to nominate innovative service platforms that allow online TV and video service providers to develop new offerings and thus differentiate themselves in their respective markets.

This is the first time that the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards, organised in conjunction with this year's IBC Connected World, are being presented in recognition of innovations in the TV sector of networked television. Every year, as an important and globally recognised industry event in the TV entertainment sector, the IBC is involved in standard setting trends and developments. Connected TV and Devices feature among the Hot Topics for 2011.
The ConnectedWorld.TV Awards are highly regarded by the sector, as can be seen from the number of registrations, over 150, from 27 countries (Europe, Asia Pacific, North and South America). The winning nominations will be announced on 12 September as part of a gala event at the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam.

Onteve combines the collective recommendation power offered by social networks with a proven television experience

The HbbTV service onteve was developed for TV broadcasters and portal operators and links moving image content on TV with social media networks such as Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. For example, the system allows TV broadcasters, in parallel with their linear TV schedule, to offer additional services such as Video on Demand and EPG (electronic programme guide) as well as E-commerce and other interactive services. In the future this will also be linked to a recommendation management system . Both the Android and iPhone versions simplify interaction with the HbbTV App. Onteve's first customer is the Pay-TV broadcaster Kinowelt TV, who was involved in the development of the service as a pilot customer.
Onteve is very easy to use, thanks to an intuitive user interface which allows blind navigation by operating only five buttons on the TV remote control. The UX specialists at coeno are responsible for the design of the UI. They have fine-tuned onteve for nacamar from the perspective of the user experience and will continue to be involved in its future development.

Smarter television with HbbTV - the future of TV has arrived
